Note: You can do Activities 1, 2 and 3 in any order, but Activities 4, 5 and 6 are best done in order, as the knowledge scaffolds upon the previous activity.

Most of our Guided Discovery Activities have expected results, unlike experiments which may have varied outcomes. Through these activities, students discover the answers and then reflect on these discoveries, promoting critical thinking, and making the outcomes more meaningful and memorable. Students are then encouraged to record their results in a way that is meaningful to them (hence, there are no forms to fill out), and to create written reflections of their results in their own individual writing style.

Also included at the end of each activity is a short "Results and Reasons" section which lists the results you should expect for each activity, and/or interesting facts. Please do not share this until your student or child has completed their own activities.

• Sheet of paper with primary red, green and blue color splashes painted or colored on.
